More than 50 years ago, Abraham Maslow developed the “Hierarchy of Needs” that explains the motivations of human behavior. These needs, when unmet are the root of the counter-productive behaviors found in every aspect of life, including the workplace. This has far-reaching effects that prohibit a company from reaching its full potential. The ELITE (Elements of Leadership Influencing Team Effectiveness) System provides a model that allows leaders to successfully meet the needs in a manner that builds a stronger, more productive company.

Team Centered Leadership

Some companies and organizations are quality-centered while others exist amid "chaos". Increasingly, world-class organizations are stepping up efforts to build strong cultures. While there is an extensive library of information on the importance and/or results of having strong organizational cultures, there is little information on how a leader goes about the process of developing such a culture using inspirational leadership techniques. The American Heritage Dictionary defines a leader as "one that leads or guides". We like to add a few adjectives such as one who coaches, mentors, inspires, builds self-esteem, and promotes honesty, truthfulness and trust. These are attributes that anyone at any level of the company can, and should exhibit. Thus, a team can easily be made up of leaders focused on improving each other and the company as a whole.
